The Newcastle Velodrome complex is a multi-use facility managed by the Newcastle Velodrome Trust and used by Hunter District for track, criterium and cyclocross racing. The velodrome is 200m long with fully angled concrete banks. Around the velodrome is the Mick Chapman Criterium circuit – a fast and modern 500m tarmac track in memory of a Hunter cycling legend. The grassy outer slopes are used annually for cyclocross – turned into a fun and muddy track.
Track racing is run at the velodrome every Wednesday during the track season, and training during off season along with other days through the week. Newcastle Cyclocross runs three races annually during Winter. Currently the criterium circuit is not subject to regular racing.
Newcastle Velodrome is located on the corner of Melville Road and Chatham Street, Broadmeadow. See it on Google Maps here.
