With a membership of over 250 the club attracts juniors, riders in the elite category (19-30yr olds) and riders of masters age as well as the biggest contingent of female riders in the region.
The club races two distinct seasons, Summer & Winter.
The Winter Road season course is currently at the Hunter Economic Zone (HEZ), Kurri Kurri, and caters for all grades. Racing is held on alternate Saturday afternoons at 2:00pm (see Racing, Upcoming Racing). The course is undulating with the road being fast and relatively traffic free. Winter road racing is ideal for riders planning to ride in State Open events whether they be A or F grade.
The Summer season is made up of road and track racing. Road racing is held on Kooragang Island, Cormorant Rd, at 6.00pm every Friday during daylight saving. The course is flat and makes for some very quick racing in all grades with some great bunch sprints on possibly the widest roads that cyclists could hope to ride on.
The club also supports track racing during the Summer season and boasts many State and Australian title holders. Track racing is held at the Newcastle Velodrome (currently run by the Velodrome Regional Trust), Chatham St Adamstown. Racing is held each Wednesday evening from 7.00pm in the Summer months. (In winter, Wednesday evenings are used for track training).
The club has a number of qualified coaches, who are willing and able to offer support and encouragement – no matter what level you are aiming for.
Joining the club is a good way to meet new friends, stay fit and enjoy the great aussie outdoors. Training rides for all levels or riders occur throughout the week.
